Narthana 2023 Acts

Deepavali

First act back after the intermission. We’re starting off on a celebration. Diwali. This is India’s biggest and most important holiday of the year. The festival gets its name from the avail, or row, of Deepa, the clay lamps that Indians light outside their homes to symbolise the inner light that protects from spiritual darkness. Inspired by the festival of Diwali,  a dancer awaits her beloved with a Deepa in her hand: perhaps she may meet him before the light dims down. Let’s find out.
