Pahim Path: Bulath Pada
The Bulath Pada dance is a central and cherished part of the Sri Lankan Pahim Path ceremony, a traditional ritual that seeks blessings and auspiciousness. “Bulath” refers to betel leaves, which are significant in many Sri Lankan cultural and religious practices, symbolising prosperity, health, and good fortune. During the dance, the betel leaves are often arranged and offered to deities or significant figures in the ceremony, symbolising the bestowal of blessings. This act of offering is believed to invoke protection, prosperity, and positive energy for those present.
