Mahith

My dance experience spans a wide range of Sri Lankan and South Asian dance forms, including Kandyan, Low Country, Sabaragamuwa, Bharatanatyam, Folk, Lyrical, Kuththu and Gaana. Developing across these different traditions has allowed me to become a versatile performer while continuing to strengthen my understanding of Sri Lankan dance. Completing this stage of my training is an opportunity to deepen that practice and recognise the importance of continued learning even as an experienced performer. I hope to keep developing my versatility, technique and performance experience while continuing to represent Sri Lankan dance on new stages and through new opportunities.

UPDATE: Since graduating, Mahith has progressed to become a Senior Core Performer at KD Co, continuing to perform and represent the company across a range of events and opportunities.

Minoli

Having performed in several Narthana productions over the years, I wanted to take my involvement in Kandyan dance further through more structured training. Completing Dilini’s Goda Saramba and Pa Saramba course gave me the opportunity to strengthen my foundations and progress towards Pahim Path. Being part of the 2025 graduating group therefore represents more than a performance; it marks a clear progression in my development as a dancer. I hope to continue building on this training through regular practice, further learning and performance opportunities that allow me to become a stronger and more confident Kandyan dancer.

UPDATE: Since graduating, Minoli has continued to develop her practice through Narthana productions and maintaining regular opportunities.

Pawani

I began dancing at the age of five and have spent many years developing my practice in traditional Kandyan and Sri Lankan folk dance, including opportunities to perform and choreograph in Italy. After taking a break to concentrate on my studies, returning to dance has allowed me to reconnect with an important part of my identity. Narthana and Pahim Path have provided a space for me to return to active practice and continue developing from the experience I already had. I hope to continue strengthening my practice through training, choreography and performance, and to keep Sri Lankan dance an active part of my artistic journey wherever that journey takes me.

UPDATE: Since graduating, Pawani has progressed to become a Junior Associate Performer at KD Co, continuing her dance journey through company performances and events.

Sachi 

My dance journey has given me experience performing on a variety of stages and developing across different Sri Lankan dance traditions. Alongside my experience in Uda Rata basics and repertoire, I have also graduated in Pahata Rata Naga Kanya Wes Muna in Italy. Continuing my training in UK with Dilini allowed me to broaden my knowledge while developing greater confidence and versatility as a performer. I hope to continue learning across Sri Lanka’s dance traditions, developing my technique and taking on opportunities that allow me to grow into a more knowledgeable and well-rounded dance artist.

UPDATE: Since graduating, Sachi has continued to develop her practice through Choreo One and Narthana productions, maintaining regular opportunities to perform, learn and build her experience as a dance artist.

Ranthi

Performing at Narthana 2024 was an important experience for me and encouraged me to take the next step in my dance journey through Pahim Path. Having the opportunity to progress from participating in the production to working towards this recognised milestone gave me something meaningful to develop towards. I hope to continue building on this foundation through further training and performance opportunities, developing my confidence, technique and experience as a Kandyan dancer.

UPDATE: Since graduating, Ranthi continues to seek opportunities for further training and development, building on her Pahim Path experience and looking for ways to continue learning and growing as a dancer.

Krishani 

Dance has always been a space where I can express myself, find joy and connect with others. Being part of Narthana gave me an opportunity to bring that passion onto the stage and become part of a wider community of dancers celebrating Sri Lankan culture. Experiences such as Pahim Path and Narthana create opportunities for dancers like me to continue learning and developing rather than allowing dance to become something we leave behind. I hope to continue my dance journey through further training and performance opportunities, building my confidence and keeping dance an important part of my life.

UPDATE: Since graduating, Krishani continues to seek further opportunities to learn, develop and strengthen her practice, with an ambition to continue progressing as a dancer.
